Sorting Rules
- By Pinyin
- Sort by Mandarin pronunciation character by character; รผ comes after u when initial letters match. Suitable for general lists and directories.
- Full Name Strokes
- Compare stroke count character by character; fewer strokes first. When equal, order by stroke type: horizontal, vertical, left-falling, right-falling, turning.
- Surname Strokes
- Sort by surname (first character) stroke count first. For the same surname, single-character given names precede double-character ones. Then sort given names by stroke count. Common for editorial boards and author lists.
